Important Update: GFI Commission Payments Are Using Wingspan

Effective July 1st, GFI has changed the way we issue commission payments for the remainder of 2025. We’re excited to announce our partnership with Wingspan, a platform designed to make payments faster, more secure, and easier for agents.

Wingspan helps streamline commission payments and automatically generate 1099s. Even better, it offers free tools to help you manage:

Top Changes to the Direct Deposit Experience

  1. New Enrollment Process: Once you’ve completed Licensing, signed up for E&O coverage, and registered through SureLC, you’ll receive an email invitation to set up your account.

  2. New Enhanced Security with Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): For your protection, Wingspan requires 2FA. You’ll have full control to securely manage your account, including updating your banking information.

  3. New Payment Notification Emails: You’ll now receive a notification email when a payout is initiated. While banks still take 24–72 hours to deposit the funds, this alert provides peace of mind that your payment is on the way. Be sure to check your SPAM.

  4. New Optional Instant Payout: Need your money sooner due to an emergency? We understand! Wingspan offers an Instant Payout feature (for a fee) that allows you to receive funds immediately instead of waiting for your bank to process it within 24-72 hours.

Q: Why does Wingspan sound so familiar?

GFI Canada has been using Wingspan successfully, so we're rolling this out across GFI, including both the US and International teams.

Q: What do I need to sign up?

You'll receive an email at the email address listed in your GFI agent portal. During signup, you’ll be prompted to:

  • Set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

  • Provide your individual tax ID (SSN)

    • GFI only supports payments to individuals—not corporations or LLCs.

  • Connect your bank account for direct deposits

Q: How do I change my email address?

First, you have to complete the sign up process for your own security! Look in the email that matching your agent profile. After that, follow the steps here.

Q: How long does it take to sign up?

It's quick! If you have your details ready, you'll be done in 90 seconds!

Q: Why am I being asked to upload documentation?

While rare, sometimes a name is mistyped, an outdated address is entered, or there’s a mismatch with IRS records. If so, proof of address would be needed as either a PDF or photo image. Please do not send a selfie =)

Q: When will I receive my first deposit through Wingspan?

Payments began in July 2025. Your first Wingspan deposit will arrive after you receive your next commission.

Q: Who gets the invite first?

Licensed Agents! If you’re newly licensed after the initial rollout, you’ll receive your invite a few days after completing your E&O and SureLC setup. If not, shoot an email to wingspan@mygficonnect.com and we'll look into it. Of course check SPAM first.

Q: How long will the bank deposits take?

It depends on your bank. Please expect 24 to 72 hours. May take extra time around the weekends, bank holidays, and your bank's 'month end' processing.

Need your funds ASAP? We understand some agents need the flexibility of this, and there is an optional feature available to you via Wingspan. Wingspan provides a 'fee option' for "Instant Payout" to banks that support this feature (may take up to 90mins). Learn more here.

Q: What is Instant Payout?

As stated above, it's an option for you to secure your funds before your bank's typically processing time.

Q: What if I do not sign up for Wingspan?

No worries, your funds will be secured within Wingspan and then processed the next business day after you complete the signup process.

Q: What about my existing banking details in the agent portal?

They have already been removed.

Q: How do I get my 1099?

Your 1099 for 2025 will be accessible in your Wingspan account. Last year's 2024 1099 can still be requested by GFI here.

Q: What if I haven’t received my invite yet after the announcement?

Please double check your SPAM folder first. If still nothing and you have an active state license, signed up for both E&Os and SureLC, and it's been a few days, please email your Name, Agent Code, and NPN to wingspan@mygficonnect.com from the email you have on file with GFI. We'll be more than happy to help out!

Q: What if I haven’t received my first bank deposit yet via Wingspan?

You'll receive an email any time a deposit is scheduled to be sent to you. It will have an "INVOICE #" to help with tracking. Please make sure your banking details are correct. If the deposit never arrives after 72 hours, please contact Wingspan’s Support Center or email support@wingspan.app for assistance. You will need to provide them the "INVOICE #". You can also copy us wingspan@mygficonnect.com
