Ameritas is a national life insurance carrier and, in general, is licensed to sell policies in most U.S. states and the District of Columbia. However, there are sometimes exceptions for certain products, policy types, or specific state regulations.

Typically, Ameritas allows policies to be written in:

• All 50 states

• The District of Columbia

Exceptions:

• New York: Ameritas products are generally not available in New York, as New York often requires carriers to have a separate, NY-domiciled subsidiary to sell insurance there. Ameritas does not have a New York subsidiary for most life insurance products.
